Terence Dolan (8 de abril de 1943 - 20 de abril de 2019) foi um lexicógrafo irlandês e personalidade do rádio. Ele foi professor de Inglês Antigo e Médio na Escola de Inglês e Drama da University College Dublin . Ele atuou como Coordenador de Pesquisa da Escola e foi o diretor do site do Arquivo Hiberno-Inglês . Vida

Dolan nasceu em Londres, de pais irlandeses , ambos vindos do condado de Cavan . Ele foi anteriormente um Hastings Senior Scholar do The Queen's College, Oxford . Ele foi duas vezes o National Endowment for the Humanities Distinguished Professor Visitante de Humanidades, University of Richmond , Virginia (em 1986 e 1992). Ele foi diretor da escola internacional de verão James Joyce , em Dublin . Ele é talvez mais conhecido por seu Dicionário de Hiberno-Inglês, que fornece um relato abrangente da língua inglesa falada na Irlanda.

Doença e morte

Dolan sofreu um derrame em fevereiro de 2008 e iniciou um período de recuperação. Ele deixou o Hospital Tallaght em 15 de dezembro de 2008. Ele conversou com Seán Moncrieff sobre essa experiência, e também sobre as origens das palavras médicas e sobre como escrever um livro sobre a experiência de primeira mão de ter um derrame e sua recuperação. Ele morreu em 20 de abril de 2019.
