Origens e história
A casa de Rohan-Chabot foi fundada por Henri Chabot (1616-1655), Senhor de Saint-Aulaye, filho de Charles Chabot, Senhor de Saint-Gelais, Saint-Aulaye, um filho mais novo da família Jarnac, e Henriette de Lur , que se casou em 1645 com Marguerite de Rohan (1617-1684), filha única e herdeira de Henrique II de Rohan , primeiro duque de Rohan (1603).
Após seu casamento, Henri Chabot foi nomeado duque de Rohan e par da França em 1648 pelo cardeal Mazarin , sob o reinado do rei Luís XIV .

- Louis-François-Auguste de Rohan-Chabot (1788-1833), 8º Duque de Rohan e par da França , Conde Imperial . Casou-se com Armandine de Sérent em 1808 e ficou viúvo em 1815. Homem muito piedoso, recusou-se a casar novamente e decidiu entrar no seminário em 1819. Tornou-se sacerdote em 1 de junho de 1822 e foi nomeado Arcebispo de Besançon de 1828 a sua morte em 1833. Foi nomeado cardeal em 1830. Morreu de cólera durante a grande epidemia de 1833. Ele foi o modelo do elegante bispo de Agde de Stendhal em The Red and the Black .

Foi-lhe oferecido um cargo no governo do novo Estado bretão livre ( Bretonische Regierung ), mas recusou. Ele foi libertado vários meses depois, em conformidade com os acordos da comissão de Wiesbaden. De volta a Josselin , ele mais tarde entrou em uma rede da Resistência Francesa .

- Guy Auguste de Rohan-Chabot (1683-1760), também conhecido como Cavaleiro de Rohan , Maréchal de camp em 1719, tenente-general dos exércitos do rei em 1734. Ele mandou espancar Voltaire após uma briga na casa de Adrienne Lecouvreur . Em busca de vingança, Voltaire foi enviado à Bastilha por ordem do Duque, a pedido do Cardeal de Rohan.
- Philippe-Ferdinand-Auguste de Rohan-Chabot (1815-1875), embaixador da República Francesa no Reino Unido . Ele foi o comissário nomeado pelo rei Luís Filipe para proceder à exumação do corpo de Napoleão I em Santa Helena e seu repatriamento para a França em 1840.
