Ophiacanthidae é uma família de estrelas frágeis . Axel Vilhelm Ljungman circunscreveu esse táxon em 1867; ele inicialmente chamou a subfamília Ophiacanthinae dentro da família Amphiuridae . Gordon LJ Paterson foi promovido a família em 1985.
