I expanded this article and I removed it from the "stub" category, it is no longer a stub. Lemme know if it isn't long enough or other suggestions, thank. --Connor K. 01:06, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

@Connor K. This article needs to be assessed. Lbertolotti (talk) 20:00, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sources??[edit]

"Hong Kong is a major center and important symbol of Modern capitalism. It has been declared the most capitalist city in the world." is a subjective statement and there are no references cited--credible or otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.173.229.42 (talk) 18:50, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposing expansion and improvement of the article Capitalism[edit]

I suggest we work toward fixing the article Capitalism up, it seems fairly neglected and considering the scope of it's influence is important and should be represented accurately and completely on wikipedia. Financestudent (talk) 22:59, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

@Financestudent I've updated the portal intro.Lbertolotti (talk) 00:17, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Lbertolotti Hello, I was invited by "Lbertolotti" for any input suggestions. Well...I have a small one. It's not very monumental, but when I went to the "Capitalism" article, the infobox has a graphic showing the currency representation of the US Dollar and the Euro. As I seem to find myself adding the Asian viewpoint, I thought it was curious that the Japanese Yen currency sign ¥ was missing. The current representation seems to reflect an American and European perspective on the subject of Capitalism, while the yen is a major player, and has been for at least 60 years. Yes, China and (South) Korea are now major influences in world economics, but the Japanese yen currency symbol is much more recognized. After visiting the article on the Chinese yuan, discovered the currency symbol used by the Japanese is also used by China, so the addition of the symbol might be helpful representing the Asian contributions to the world economy.(Regushee (talk) 00:35, 24 May 2015 (UTC))[reply]

@Regushee First of all, you need to find someone who would remake the drawing according to this proposed principle. Lbertolotti (talk) 13:32, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes[edit]

The quotes section doesn't really seem impartial or appropriate: the first five quotes are from Friedman and Smith, two of the most famous capitalist apologists in history. The last one is from some generally unknown (humorist?). Suggest revision. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Metaphorical Burden (talkcontribs) 21:18, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If we're considering to rewrite the quotes section, does anybody have any suggestions as to what should be in it instead? Mortimer Lanin (talk) 23:56, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Selected picture[edit]

I've reformatted the "biography" and "quote" boxes to use {{Random portal component}}, so it should be fairly easy to add more biographies and a wider range of quotes. I haven't touched the "Selected picture" box yet; should it actually be titled "Selected article"? The text in the current box is about Hong Kong's economy, and doesn't describe the picture at all. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:50, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@talk I think it is better to change to "Selected article".Lbertolotti (talk) 16:39, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Lbertolotti: OK, Hong Kong is now the first selected article. -- John of Reading (talk) 18:21, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know[edit]

I've reworked the "Did you know" box so that it can display random subpages. How are these facts going to be chosen? In the top-quality portals, the DYK boxes only show facts that have appeared on the DYK section of the Main Page. -- John of Reading (talk) 19:52, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@John of Reading Wouldn't it be more logical to do it the opposite way? Choosing the DYK for the Main Page from the different Portal pages?Lbertolotti (talk) 16:41, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The ones on the main page are from "new and expanded articles" and have to pass a review. - see Wikipedia:Did you know. -- John of Reading (talk) 16:44, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@John of Reading OK, let's start by submitting the present DYKs for review then.Lbertolotti (talk) 20:05, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The facts at Portal:Capitalism/Did you know could not be submitted to the Wikipedia:Did you know review, because the linked articles are neither new nor recently expanded. But if you go to the Main page DYK archive at Wikipedia:Recent additions and type "capitalism" or "capitalist" in the search box, there are a few results that might do for the portal. -- John of Reading (talk) 20:43, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@John of Reading You mean like this? Lbertolotti (talk) 00:45, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's one of them. There are a couple that mention "Adam Smith", too. You'll know some other good searches to try. -- John of Reading (talk) 05:48, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
